Meet Paula - How she got started creating and maintaining websites

Paula Grookett is a retired educator who creates art and art related websites in Columbia, South Carolina.

Paula was an English teacher and also has a library/media/technology background with public schools.  She was the Director of Instructional Technology when she retired from the public schools in 1997.   She also served as Computer Technology professor with Midlands Technical College from 1998 to 2006.

Paula began creating websites in 2004 when she created a website about her friends and family at PaulaGrookett.com.  She then created a second site to market her artwork.  That same year, the Trenholm Artists Guild asked her to look into how the guild could establish an online presence for its activities and for its artists.

Two weeks later, the TAG board authorized the establishment of the Trenholm Artists Guild website and the site was launched.  Since then it has grown into an important communication tool for the guild.  It showcases its artists with an online gallery and keeps the community informed with its constantly updated homepage.  The site serves as a repository for the guild's back newsletters and a visual record of the events and meetings the guild has sponsored since the website was created.   

The more Paula worked with these sites, the more knowledgeable she became with web design and layout.  She began working with FrontPage 2003 as her graphical tool but has since moved on to Dreamweaver. Websites that she designed and maintains are featured below.
